The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released a notice regarding the modalities and schedule for the Supplementary Examinations for Class XII in 2023. The notice outlines the facilities available to students, including the verification of marks, obtaining photocopies of evaluated answer books, and re-evaluation of answers.
Evaluation Policy
CBSE follows a well-settled policy for the evaluation of answer books to ensure accuracy. However, if students are not satisfied with their evaluation, they have the opportunity to avail certain facilities. These facilities include the verification of marks, obtaining photocopies of evaluated answer books, and re-evaluation of answers.
Modalities and Schedule
The detailed modalities for applying for verification of marks, obtaining photocopies of evaluated answer books, and re-evaluation of answers for the Supplementary Examination for Senior School Certificate Examination (Class XII) in 2023 are as follows:
- Requests for all the processes will be accepted only online during the specified schedules, along with the required processing charges. No offline applications will be accepted after the scheduled date and time.
- The processing charges can only be paid online using methods such as Credit/Debit Card or Net Banking. Postal orders, demand drafts, money orders, cheques, or cash will not be accepted.
- Incomplete or offline applications will be rejected without any correspondence with the candidate.
- Each candidate can submit only one application for each step in the online process. Candidates must decide in advance whether they want to apply for one subject or multiple subjects.
- The board will not be responsible for any consequences due to the revision of marks or delays in the process beyond its control.
- Even a decrease of one mark will be affected.
- In cases where there is a change in marks (increase or decrease), candidates must surrender their current Marksheet cum Certificate. They will be issued a new Marksheet cum Certificate.
- The processing charges are non-refundable.
Verification of Marks
The schedule for the verification of marks is provided in Annexure-l. The processing charges for verification are Rs. 500/- per subject. The outcome of the verification of marks will be communicated through the candidate’s login account on the CBSE website. No individual communication will be sent regarding the outcome. If there is a change in marks, the candidate will be notified through their login account. The applicants are advised to regularly check the CBSE website for updates on the verification request. Only candidates who apply for the verification of marks online will be eligible to apply for obtaining a photocopy of the answer book in that subject.
Obtaining Photocopy of Evaluated Answer Book
Only candidates who have applied for the verification of marks online will be eligible to apply for obtaining a photocopy of the evaluated answer book. The processing charges for obtaining a photocopy are Rs. 700/- per subject for Class XII. The application must be submitted online as per the schedule provided in Annexure-|. Incomplete applications or applications submitted on behalf of the candidate will be rejected, and the fees deposited will be forfeited. The scanned copy of the answer book will be provided in the candidate’s login account, with all information relating to the identity of the examiner/evaluator blocked.
Re-evaluation of Evaluated Answer Book
Candidates who have applied for obtaining a photocopy of the evaluated answer book will be eligible to apply for re-evaluation or challenge the marks awarded to any question(s). The request for re-evaluation or challenges will be accepted only for the theory portion, and the processing charges will be Rs. 100/- per question. The applicant must refer to the marking scheme in the subject concerned, which will be available on the website along with the question paper. Candidates can submit an application for re-evaluation in the required question(s) with reasoning. The status of re-evaluation will be uploaded on the website, followed by a formal communication from the Regional Office. The result of the re-evaluation will be final, and no appeal or review against the re-evaluation would be entertained. In the case of all the above three activities, i.e. verification of marks, obtaining photocopies of evaluated answer books, and re-evaluation of answers, the decision of the Board on the marks awarded shall be final and binding on the candidates.
Supplementary Exam Updates
The CBSE has announced that the Supplementary Examinations for Class X and XII will be held on the syllabus of the Main Examination 2023. The dates for the Supplementary Examinations will be announced soon. The practical exams for Class X and XII will be conducted with the Supplementary Examinations from 6 July 2023. The CBSE will release the CBSE Supplementary Exam 2023 forms for both the 10th and 12th classes on June 1, 2023. Private candidates of Classes X and XII who are eligible for the Board examinations 2023 can apply only in one or two subjects in which they are placed in Compartment, for the 3rd and final chance.
