The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has taken several initiatives to promote sports among youth in India. As part of these initiatives, CBSE has mainstreamed Health and Physical Education at the Secondary and Senior Secondary levels by introducing a mandatory period per day for sports, games, etc. Additionally, CBSE has been providing special provisions for students participating in National/International Sports Events and International Olympiads since March 2018 and March 2020, respectively. Special Provisions for Students Participating in National/International Sports Events
CBSE provides a special opportunity to students who are participating in National/International Sports Events and whose CBSE Board’s examinations clash with the dates of these events. CBSE conducts special examination(s) at a later date(s) for such students. This provision is applicable for events recognized by Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI).To avail of this opportunity, students need to submit a request to their school. The request should be submitted well in advance of the examination date. The school will then forward the request to the CBSE Regional Office, which will take the necessary action.CBSE has been providing this facility since March 2018, and it will continue to do so for the Board exams in 2024.
Special Provisions for Students Participating in International Olympiads
CBSE also provides a special opportunity to students who are participating in International Olympiads and whose CBSE Board’s examinations clash with the dates of these Olympiads. CBSE conducts special examination(s) at a later date(s) for such students. This provision is applicable for Olympiads recognized by the Appropriate Authority in India viz. Homi Bhabha Center for Science Education (HBCSE).To avail of this opportunity, students need to submit a request to their school. The request should be submitted well in advance of the examination date. The school will then forward the request to the CBSE Regional Office, which will take the necessary action.CBSE has been providing this facility since March 2020, and it will continue to do so for the Board exams in 2024.
How to Apply for Special Provisions
To apply for special provisions, students need to submit a request to their school. The request should include the following details:
- Name of the student
- Class and Roll Number
- Name of the National/International Sports Event or International Olympiad
- Dates of the National/International Sports Event or International Olympiad
- Supporting documents (if any)
The request should be submitted well in advance of the examination date. The school will then forward the request to the CBSE Regional Office, which will take the necessary action.
